First Book Launches 'Classrooms for Classrooms'
First Book Launches 'Classrooms for Classrooms': "New Program Enables Groups to Raise Money to Sponsor Books for Children in the Gulf Region WASHINGTON, Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- First Book, a national nonprofit literacy organization, has announced a new online program that will enable classrooms and other groups of concerned individuals to become a part of the relief effort for hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The program, called 'Classrooms for Classrooms,' will allow classrooms and other community groups across the country to collect online contributions for Book Relief, a hurricane relief initiative of First Book. Classrooms for Classrooms was developed in response to dozens of inquiries from students and others about how they can help in the Gulf relief efforts. Through this program, individuals can form teams -- locally or between individuals across the country -- and raise money that will sponsor books to classrooms in the devastated areas."
